Visits to the Cogne mines

An adventure of 1.5 km on a vintage train taking you to the end of the carriage tunnel; you can then continue on foot on an thrilling journey inside the mountain magnetite mine, through history.

Meeting point and start of the visit: 10.30 am and 2.30 pm at Costa del Pino (visit lasts about 2 hours)

Children under 18 must be accompanied (the site is accessible to children over 5 years of age).

Thursday morning the visit is free of charge for those who stay in a participating hotel.

How to reach the Costa del Pino mine

1h30 – Follow the footpath enjoying a panoramic walk, suitable for everyone. Take the free shuttle for Gimillan from Cogne, get off at Montroz, take the track on the right across the bridge over the stream.

1h - After leaving your car at Casetta Bianca (in Montroz in front of the church) take the footpath on the right across the bridge over the stream and continue on foot after the barrier.

2h30 – Starting from Cogne, on foot, follow the signs to Gimillan and once arrived at the small church of Montroz. There, take the foothpath on the right across the bridge over the stream.

1h - With the e-bike from Cogne, follow the signs in direction Gimillan and once arrived at the small church of Montroz take the footpath on the right across the bridge over the stream. Present yourself at Rent Bike Cogne with the reservation of the visit to the mines and you will get a discount.

Evveryday at 10.30 a.m. and at 2.30 p.m. you can visit the mines with a guide, starting from Costa del Pino. You will have to wear an helmet with a lamp and go all the way through the heart of the mountain.
